This looks like a real blackbird. When I posted a black bird on my Blue Mountains blog a few months ago I was taken to task for calling in a blackbird when it wasn't. Now I know better :-)

Joan Elizabeth, now the big question is: Are there real blackbirds in Australia? Wikipedia says yes, this bird is everywhere except for the Americas (and Antarctica). Interesting.

Apparently there are blackbirds in Australia - an introduced non-native species. However they live down south rather than where I am.

Joan Elizabeth, they developed from being a "shy forest bird" to "really being anywhere and talking to cell phone ringtones" around here through the last decades.
