I can identify some of those spices, but not all. I looked up that book and it sounds interesting. I read a few of King's early novels and it may be time to pick up another one. ;-)
I can smell the fragrance. And when a photo does that it's a good shot.
I love all the textures in this photo, I kind of a tactile person. So, what's cookin'?

Ingredients:
For 8 servings
8 eggs
2 onions
60 g sugar
60 g salt
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon black peppercorns
1 red chili pepper
3 juniper berries
2 allspice
1 bay leaf
200 ml white wine vinegar
1,2 l water
= spicy pickled eggs
CiB, this is a novel in the tradition of "The Stand", "Four Past Midnight" or "Needful Things" - highly entertaining, though some illogical "things", too ;-). Thrilling.
AB, yes, I do very much - chillies and garlic are a must!
