If this one were alive I am sure would have used a supertele lens ...
kobico, yes, perhaps that is what happens to all the twigs, leaves, feathers ...
It looks like a very well camouflaged stick insect.

Not winter here ... it's sweltering today and we haven't even reached summer yet!
Joan Elizabeth, yes, exactly - yesterday we had some strong autumn winds around here :-). It is not so bad at the moment for November, sunny and around 12 to 13 °C ... but far from sweltering ...
41C where we were today ... 12C suddenly seems like bliss.
