donnie, that's exactly what it is .. of course :-P
ana barata, lol - no, I am not going to explain ... *g*.
dear Zé, perhaps there is something hiding in there? Something to hunt ...
kobico, no, Donnie got it almost right. Dictionary says the right definition would be "field mangel". And, you don't wear glasses so everything is allright! My definition of a good eyesight, grin.
Kenneth, thank you. I wasn't so sure if this would work in the small size or work at all but thought it okay at last.
Paul, lol - me neither. Where I grew up, when harvest was done and there were these piles of beets all over the place, we children took some, carved them out, put candles in them and went from door to door - I guess reciting some poems? Singing some song? Can't really remember. I only remember how difficult is has been to hollow them out.
Paul, thinking about this - finally grown up, some decades later :-) - I wonder we all still have all of our fingers ... it's called "Rübengeistern" in Germany - and will be replaced by Halloween in the near future, I am sure.
This is more a daily feed than a daily blog.
Photos are resized or may be cropped - that's the only post-processing I do.
The quotes: it is essential to me to only quote from things I am currently reading ... I must admit it is sometimes lopsided ... reading a 1000 page novel takes some time ;-)

fab - looks like a bronze age burial cairn made of turnips :)
I see, but can you be a little more explicit, please?
ok ??!!?!?
Is that a pile of rocks? My eyesight is getting a little bad. Okay, it's always been bad, but now I have age as an excuse.
This is such a beautiful picture. I really like black & white. Grat shot!
Greetings!
:o) Who upset the sugar beet truck!?
Wasn't me!!
