What a beautiful day, a snow-filled hill, no crowds, and bright sun! I like the little lens flare you got.

With a view like that ... yes all is well.

kobico, that is not a lens flare. It is a sun dog. We had some wonderful halos and sundogs there.

A parhelion...I thought it was coming from diffraction in ice crystals as soon as I saw it, but was not aware of the phenomenon before, or either the formal or informal names. I must not live in the right place to see them happen.

Carl, we have them in Mainz, too - but not that often. Last time I saw one (some three weeks ago) everyone came to my office (the halo with two sun dogs was right opposite the window) to look, someone even thought about calling his little son at school, ;-) There was one in Austria last week that was breathtaking - I didn't even think of taking a photo, though :-(.

Such simple blue sky can have so much in it!

AB, especially when you don't see blue skies for weeks and weeks ;-) I guess it is the same in Saarbrücken.

Indeed: when you such a bright sky all is well!

ana barata, yes, I wish I could see some bright sky now ... it's winter again with freezing temperatures and grey cloudy skies. Duh.
