A steelworks built from steel ... makes me smile because my Dad was an iron and steel man ... he made everything with it, including cupboards and things that other people would make out of wood.
Joan Elizabeth, this is very interesting, you do not have by chance any photos to show us? Using "unusual" materials is always fascinating to me.
Paula, thank you very much, you made me smile today with your litte guy, he is so cute and funny.
AB, really? I would have thought the charging platform and the blast-furnaces would be part of a tour. These skips were used to transport everything that is needed to the blast-furnaces: ore, coke, scrap ... it is really al-chemistry, ;-)
Martina, sorry I can't think if any photos with Dad's homemade handiwork ... and we didn't keep any of it when he died ... there was so much to clear up including many tons of scrap metal.
This is more a daily feed than a daily blog.
Photos are resized or may be cropped - that's the only post-processing I do.
The quotes: it is essential to me to only quote from things I am currently reading ... I must admit it is sometimes lopsided ... reading a 1000 page novel takes some time ;-)

Now surely this is a better way to dispense gold and silver than yesterday's trifling ladle ...
Very good these pictures. And I like the words you chose.
I just love those industrial places, in deed they have gold and silver...
Cheers
I wish gold and silver would appear magically in my coffers! This looks so much cleaner and brighter than I imagined a steel factory to look.
wonderfull photos! Love to visit your blog!
I missed these when I took a guided tour. Do you know what went in these skips?
industrial eye on a post-industrial world ... i like it.
like steel, very strong work ... magically quote and image!
