I like the way those smokestacks seem to dominate the whole building. I also like that funky, dome building on the right. It looks like a snowball.
kobico, yes, old factory buildings made out of bricks are great - they have style.
I am not so sure what to think of the o2 - for me it looks like an ugly bug with yellow tentacles coming out of the body.
I like this shot ... all spikey like a London mowhawk.
Joan Elizabeth, I am not so happy with these wide angle shots - they don't work with the blogger format I suppose - too many details in too small a picture size.

Now that you say bug, it does sort of look like a spider on its back!
Apart from the factory chimneys, I think everything there is new, built in last couple of decades, as the docklands were razed and rebuilt.
AB, as you might have guessed from my last comment I was a little bit appalled at all the construction that was going on (esp. in the City) and also at how all the huge buildings (Gherkin, Lloyd's etc) are just placed somewhere without regard to surrounding, space etc. Lloyd's is really amazing but enclosed by so many other buildings ...
