I had a burst of WV when younger but have not read her for over 10 years now. "To the Island" was a favourite. I enjoyed her as a character and read a 3 volume biog a number of times. The Bloomsbury group fascinates me.
Must dip back into her ...

Saw Mrs Dalloway in the bookshop yesterday but resisted buying to give her another look. After all I still have David Malouf to read :-)

J,J: after all I think I like Mrs Dalloway - even if the sentences sometimes make knots in my brain. Woolf definitely knew what people think, feel, do ... .
Julie, funny, while reading yesterday night I thought I would like to read a Woolf biography next.
I haven't read the book to be honest.
But looking at this shot and thinking of this quote...
I'm not sure he actually DID knew the meaning of the world.
He got traped.
You really want me to read this book, because of this gorgeous shot Martina and the brilliant quote.
I want to know the answer, for myself.

Anna, despite the brain-knotting syntax for a non-native speaker like me I would recommend this book deeply. I seldom have read character descriptions and interpretations so profound. And I am under the impression that Woolf never condemns any of the characters morally - everyone has his/her faults, qualities, virtues - everyone has his/her life. That is an attitude I truly approve!
Oh, and I think my sentences become Woolfian ...
i love these deities' curly beards. They do not seem to wear them like that any more.
AB, yeah - don't know what's the matter with the gods nowadays ...
