    Mary Ann, I am not sure. Looks like cut cables, perhaps there has been a cable distribution cabinet once? Out of order for decades now. It's at the iron works I visited in 2009.

    Paul, sometimes it's inside walls, too. You should visit the British Museum, perhaps you will find something there ;-).
