Julie, perhaps the bird had just an itchy back and that's why there is so much feathery stuff.
In fact it is a really small feather, about 5cm long, and very delicate twigs. It is the only photo I took during a walk on Sunday and I was astonished that it came out okay - white feather against gray sky, windy ... did I mention the German November weather already? :-S
Of course there was... but you did not need to show it. Very nice!!!!

ReplyDeleteWhenever I see a stray feather I photograph it too. They are at their best when hanging on in the wind like this one.
ReplyDeleteBut there are other bits of feathery stuff wrapped around the branch. As though this bird came to some sort of sticky end - death by branch.
