I am only just realising how distracting colour can be to the meaning of an image. I like the beetle like this, especially partially obscured by the focus. I wonder if a beetle like that eats those ants that are also on the plant? Aphids I can understand, but maybe the ants are too large ...
Julie, the ants cultivate and harvest the aphids (ha, a new word!) I suppose. The beetle is just lost there - didn't understand how and why he came here ... ;-). I am not sure about the beetle, perhaps of Curculionidae, German name translates as snout beetle.
Julie, so that is what you get when you are thinking in a foreign language. Of course the ants do not cultivate and harvest the aphids, they herd and milk them. :-S
*grin* - I did understand both the versions. You know, of course, that your struggle with the detail of English helps me with my own knowledge of English. I hope you do realise this ... language is a forever fascinating aspect of life.
