    Well, according to wikipedia architects make the distinction between between non-spitting chimera and gargoyles, but layman often do not. So it depends on whether you are an architect, a layman or a pedant.

    Did you have the chance to look at Michael G. Chan's Gargoyles of New York?

    It's an quite interesting thing - interesting in the sense that I never found much information about why this modern US gargoyling is happening ...
